The recent unveiling of a new character in Tekken 8 seems to have been prematurely shared, leading to director Katsuhiro Harada expressing his frustration on Twitter. A video showcasing the yet-to-be-announced fighter, Bryan Fury, allegedly surfaced on an official Instagram account before the intended timing set by Bandai Namco.
The official announcement was scheduled to take place during the ongoing Combo Breaker fighting game tournament, with the Tekken segment being streamed on the Bandai Namco Esports YouTube channel. Although the leaked trailer was swiftly removed, it had already been online long enough for other YouTube channels to distribute it.
In a tweet that has since been deleted, Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada appeared to place blame on Bandai Namco’s European division for the inadvertent leak.
Tekken 8 producer Michael Murray also took to Twitter to apologies to fans for the leak.
Tekken 8 was revealed to the public in September 2022 through a PlayStation State of Play livestream. Although an official release date has not yet been confirmed, the game is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
