Samsung is gearing up for its highly anticipated Unpacked event later this year, where it is expected to unveil its latest lineup of devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Tab S9. Recent reports from reputable sources, such as Winfuture and The Chosun Ilbo, provide some insights into the possible dates for this event. According to these rumors, Samsung might hold the Unpacked event on July 26th, with the devices hitting stores on August 11th.

If these reports turn out to be accurate, it would mean that Galaxy Unpacked will occur a few weeks earlier than last year’s event, which took place on August 10th. Similar to the previous mid-summer Unpacked event, Samsung plans to showcase its flagship foldables, including the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 5. This next-generation foldable device is rumored to feature a significantly thinner design when folded compared to its predecessor. It is expected to retain the 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display.

The rumors also suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will come with a larger 3.4-inch outer display, sporting a resolution of 720 x 748. Both devices are likely to incorporate a new “water drop” hinge that minimizes the appearance of creases. Additionally, they are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which is already featured in the Galaxy S23 devices. While Samsung’s folding phones previously faced limited competition in the US market, primarily from the Motorola Razr and Microsoft Surface Duo 2, the upcoming release of the Google Pixel Fold is likely to intensify the competition.

In addition to the foldables, Samsung’s tablet lineup is also poised for an upgrade. The company is anticipated to launch the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, which could offer up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The regular Tab S9, on the other hand, may come with up to 12GB of RAM. Interestingly, unlike previous Unpacked events, The Chosun Ilbo suggests that Samsung’s July event could potentially take place in Seoul, South Korea, this time around.
